Day 1: Departure from Paris to Normandy Landing Beaches
Departure from Paris in the morning: Your tour begins with a comfortable drive from Paris to the historic Normandy region, a journey of approximately 3 hours.
Arrival at Caen Memorial: Upon arrival, you’ll start your tour with a visit to the Caen Memorial, a museum dedicated to the history of World War II and the D-Day landings. Here, you’ll gain an in-depth understanding of the events leading up to D-Day and the impact of the war on Normandy.
Lunch: Enjoy a delicious lunch at a local restaurant in Caen, sampling traditional Normandy cuisine.
Visit to Pegasus Bridge: After lunch, you’ll visit Pegasus Bridge, a crucial site in the D-Day operations. This bridge was the first to be liberated by Allied forces, marking the beginning of the Normandy landings.
Tour of the Pointe du Hoc: Next, you’ll visit the Pointe du Hoc, a promontory overlooking the English Channel that was captured by American Rangers during the D-Day assault. You’ll explore the site and learn about the heroic actions of the Rangers.
Arrival at Omaha Beach: Your day will conclude with a visit to Omaha Beach, one of the most significant landing sites during the D-Day invasion. Here, you’ll have time to reflect on the sacrifices made by Allied forces and pay your respects at the Normandy American Cemetery and Memorial.
Overnight Accommodation: You’ll spend the night in a comfortable hotel in the Normandy region, enjoying a relaxing evening and a chance to rest before the next day’s activities.
Day 2: Utah Beach, Sainte-Mère-Église, and Carentan
Departure from the hotel: After breakfast, you’ll depart for a day of exploration in the historic towns and battle sites of Utah Beach, Sainte-Mère-Église, and Carentan.
Visit to Utah Beach: Your first stop will be Utah Beach, one of the five landing beaches during the D-Day invasion. Here, you’ll explore the Utah Beach Museum, which provides a comprehensive overview of the events leading up to and following D-Day.
Tour of Sainte-Mère-Église: Next, you’ll visit the town of Sainte-Mère-Église, where American paratroopers landed during the night of June 5-6, 1944. You’ll see the famous church with a replica of the paratrooper John Steele hanging from the steeple, and visit the Airborne Museum to learn more about the role of the 82nd and 101st Airborne Divisions in the Normandy invasion.
Lunch: Enjoy a leisurely lunch at a local restaurant in Sainte-Mère-Église, sampling traditional Normandy cuisine.
Departure for Carentan: After lunch, you’ll travel to Carentan, a strategic town that was captured by American forces during the Battle of Normandy. Here, you’ll visit the Carentan Liberty Museum, which showcases the liberation of the town and the role of the 101st Airborne Division.
Free Time: You’ll have some free time to explore Carentan on your own, visiting historic sites, museums, or simply relaxing and enjoying the ambiance of this historic town.
Return to Paris: At the conclusion of the tour, you’ll be returned to your accommodation in Paris, concluding your two-day exploration of the Normandy region.
