What to Expect
  1. Château de Versailles Entrance: Begin your day at the Château de Versailles, where you’ll marvel at the opulent architecture and grandeur of the palace. Your guide will provide skip-the-line access to ensure a seamless experience.

  2. Royal Apartments: Explore the Royal Apartments, which include the King’s Apartments, the Queen’s Apartments, and the Hall of Mirrors. Admire the intricate details of the rooms, including the King’s Chamber, the Queen’s Bedchamber, and the Salon of the Nobles.

  3. Hercules Room: This room is adorned with fabulous paintings by Veronese and François Lemoyne.

  4. Salon of Abundance: This room was used as a refreshment room during evening gatherings.

  5. Venus Room: The most baroque decoration, this room used to have tables offering rare fruits and candied fruits to the guests.

  6. Diana Room: Formerly a vestibule to the King’s State Apartment, it was used as a billiard room for King Louis XIV.

  7. Mars Room: Used as the Guard Room.

  8. Mercury Room: Originally the Royal bedroom, it was replaced in the winter by game tables.

  9. Apollo Room: Also known as the Ceremonial room, this is where the throne was placed with its ceiling dedicated to the Sun King.

  10. King’s Guard Rooms: Learn about the different King’s inner guards, the Swiss Guards, and the Garde du Corps (bodyguards) who amounted up to 2960 at the end of King Louis XIV’s reign.

  11. Antechamber of Great Dining: Used for dining after the Queen’s death (Maria Theresa of Austria).

  12. Bull’s Eye Antechamber: Originally composed of the antechamber and the King’s chamber.

  13. Queen’s Guard Room: The only one that kept its 17th-century decoration, this room served as a guardhouse and is where one of the Ladies received the information from a bodyguard that a group of rioters was trying to come in (in October 1789) and warned Queen Marie Antoinette to escape as soon as possible.

  14. Hall of Mirrors: One of the very best examples of the King’s obsession with grandeur and luxury, this was used for ceremonies, balls, or games on rare occasions. The idea was to pay tribute to the political, economic, and artistic success of France.

  15. Gardens of Versailles: After your tour of the castle, explore the magnificent gardens, which cover an area of 800 hectares and feature fountains, sculptures, and meticulously landscaped greenery.

  16. Marie Antoinette’s Hamlet: Visit the picturesque hamlet, a rustic retreat built for Queen Marie Antoinette, where she could escape the formalities of court life and enjoy a simpler, more pastoral existence.

Throughout the tour, your expert guide will provide insights into the history and significance of each location, making this an unforgettable and enriching experience of Versailles.
